Alaska fishing trips

Alaska fishing trips come in a wide range of options. From DIY, road-system adventures in Southcentral, to top-dollar fly-out lodge destinations scattered across Bristol Bay, to a gallery of lodge-based escapades in Southeast, there are lots of options to choose from. In general, there are two main types of fishing trips in Alaska: freshwater and saltwater. There are also generally two styles of trip: guided or unguided. Determining the species you want to target and whether this trip will be DIY, fully guided, or some combination of the both, are two of the most critical factors in planning your Alaska angling excursion.

Budget is a major factor when anglers are selecting options for Alaska fishing trips, as is the food, lodging and general amenities at whatever location they choose. Fish care and processing are also considerations. Other factors include the general competency and friendliness of the staff of whatever service provider(s) you contract with for this trip to the Great Land.

Yakutat Lodge

At Yakutat Lodge, we consider ourselves a prime option for anglers looking for a well-rounded trip. We fish in both freshwater and saltwater and target a wide range of species throughout the season including steelhead, red salmon, pink salmon, and silver salmon in the freshwater, and king salmon, halibut, lingcod, rockfish, and silver salmon in the saltwater. Our Alaska fishing trips are custom, so you can choose fully guided or a combination of guided and DIY.

Fish processing is a courtesy service for our guests. Your fish are filleted for you and we get it vacuum sealed, frozen and boxed up for your journey home. And our staff is friendly, energetic and eager to make your trip as good as it can be.

Alaska fishing trips are a lot more than catching lots of fish, and you’ll certainly do that when you come to Yakutat Lodge. But they are even better when all of the boxes can be checked, and we think that’s the case when you come to Yakutat Lodge. We think we offer one of the most well-rounded Alaska fishing trips available.
